Perfection is NOT a Must!

After reading and learning about action research, I really cannot imagine another way of working toward progress and change that would come close to being as effective.  Why would someone leading a school campus or district trust a generic solution when they are in the ultimate position to initiate a more personalized response that would lead to success?  I plan to use action research in my career starting now!  I mean, is there really a reason to wait? If I can see glitches in the systematic way that I do things now, I see it as my job to do everything within my power to get them taken care of.  Are my classroom stations being effective in leading my students to success?  As a co-worker, am I doing my best in providing my teammates with information about strategies and daily routines that I find most effective?  My discipline strategies with Little Johnny are not leading to positive results.  What can I try that will encourage him to exhibit more exemplary traits?  By asking myself these questions, I am introducing myself to action based inquiry.  The next step I must take is to research strategies that could offer more beneficial outcomes.  Upon gaining knowledge from my research, I must work to incorporate my findings into my daily practices, analyze whether or not I have chosen the best option, and be willing to spiral the process if there still seem to be some gaps in the results.  In my opinion, I will never reach a state of perfection in my career.  Let me rephrase.  I hope that I do not ever reach a point in my career that I think everything is perfect.  I strive to always work toward a better me, and active research may be a leading role in obtaining that goal!
